CHALLENGING THE NARRATIVE. Challenging the narrative that queerness is not black, is not African and that black folks are not quirky.

About

Ope is a Nigerian Canadian queer gender non conforming (GNC) woman. She is passionate and gets excited about challenging the status quo around gender roles, gender norms, and queer representation.

This brand is years in the making, from Lagos, Nigeria, growing up on a street named George Crescent, Ope recalls reading a Nigerian newspaper and feeling seen. First discovering a LGBT/queer Nigerian artist, challenging the norm and criminalization of queerness in Nigeria. Ope eventually moved to Canada and since then has been developing her voice and identity as a black, queer, Nigerian.

You can find Ope dabbling in too many things to manage, random adventures, podcasting on Studs Undone or reading non fiction.
